1920

1920s Glimpse of Widgiemooltha by Eileen J. Moroney offers a captivating short history of the mining town of Widgiemooltha, enriched with photographs from the 1920s that showcase local activities and residents. Brimming with historical detail and visual charm, this is truly a not-to-be-missed publication.

"Vie’s Precious Photo Album - My beloved mother, Eliza Anne Argus (née Ware), affectionately known as Vie, was born in Coolgardie. She spent her childhood in Kunanalling, where she attended school, and later boarded at St. Anthony’s Convent in Coolgardie. From 1922 to 1924, Vie worked at the Widgiemooltha Hotel under Mrs. Doyle.

It is with deep pride that I present this small book of photographs she personally captured and developed during her time there. While only a few images bear names—and some have suffered damage or poor development—they remain rich with pride and historical significance from that remarkable era."
