Yerilla by Alex Palmer

Yerilla by Alex Palmer

Although Yerilla is not widely known for its gold production since 1895, it is internationally recognized among gemstone experts for its ‘green gold.’

Chrysoprase (‘green gold’), the most valuable gemstone in the quartz family, has been mined in Yerilla for forty years. Until recently, the complexities and intrigue surrounding its extraction remained largely unknown.

Yerilla explores the history of this eastern goldfields region, located east of Menzies, from the 1890s gold rush to the present.
